Pssst!! I'm writing from ATIA Orlando where my preconference seminar is with Beth Poss, MA CCC-SLP and Chris Bugaj, MA CCC-SLP. They're teaching us about FREE web tools for an engaging classroom that is Universally Designed for Learning (UDL). We are halfway through and it's so much fun, I thought I'd share.
So far we've learned how a previously unmotivated student with learning disabilities was transformed by a project on Shakespeare using Glogster. How to engage visual learners with their 2nd grade spelling words (Spell with Flickr), how to turn writing assignments into colorful word clouds, revealing frequency of word use (and perhaps over reliance on certain vocabulary), and a free web-based text-to-speech tool that provides downloadable mp3 files… among other tools. And we're only half-way through this workshop!
Want to know more? Here's the google docs slideshow presentation, complete with links that we are currently perusing: UDL 2.0--Hands On!
Enjoy... uh oh, we're starting up again.
Hey there! I'm working diligently on the next podcast episode that will feature your awesome bumper! Thanks for being such an active participant and thanks for the blog post!
